Funds for Closing
Monies brought to closing, by any party, must comply with the “Good Funds” law of Georgia (O.C.G.A. Section 44-14-13). This statute requires that amounts due in excess of $5,000.00 be wired into the closing attorney’s escrow account.
Amounts due between $1,000.00 and $5,000.00 can be tendered in the form of a local bank cashiers check made payable to either the closing attorney or to one’s self, and then endorsed over at the closing.
Funds due that are less than $1,000.00, at the closing attorney’s discretion, may be paid by a personal check.
To avoid any confusion or delay, do not hesitate to call the closing attorney for instructions.
